Sgt. Peffers is an Omaha staple. Truly just feels like an old school mom and pop pizza joint...because it is Our GO TO meal here is the 5 white cheese pizza. It's savory, indulgent and seriously just so good all around. We've also dabbled with the baked pastas a time or two and they make a great option for a family style meal at home or an easy drop off meal if you're like us and have friends with new babies every few months . Today was actually the first time I tried one of their salad options - and while I would've preferred a Romaine option or something higher quality than iceberg - the chicken itself, house dressing and overall size made it feel like a worthwhile menu option anyway. Come in, order at the counter, grab a spot and settle in for some truly great pizza.

My family went to Sgt Peffers on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant name is a play on the Beatles song, so the interior is all decked out in Beatles memorabilia, but with red checked tablecloths and other Italian accents. You order at the counter and then your food is delivered to your table. Sgt Peffers has pizza, sandwiches, soups, salad, pasta, and baked pasta dishes. All three of us ordered baked pasta dishes. The prices are really reasonable (under $15), and they come with a roll, and choice of soup or salad. I got the seafood lasagna, and my husband got the cheese tortellini bake. My salad came with a personal sized container of homemade Italian dressing (you can choose any dressing but I chose Italian). The dressing was incredible! The rolls are made from pizza dough. They aren't particularly flavorful on their own, but they are great dipped in your soup or pasta. My seafood lasagna was insanely good--if you have a sensitive stomach I will warn you, it is incredibly rich! For me that was a positive; the sauce was rich and creamy and buttery and cheesy. Amazing. Along with the cheese and lasagna noodles were layers of shredded crab meat and shrimp. I could only finish half so I brought the other half home with me. The servers are kind and helpful, the decor is kitschy and cute, and the food is tasty and filling. Checked all the boxes for me.

Before I retired this was a regular lunch spot for me. It's all good but my favorite was the grilled chicken salad/soup special. The soup of the day is reliably terrific. Pizza and pasta items are also very good. Nice folks behind the counter and charming ambience. Highly recommended.

Despite living quite close to this Omaha classic, I hadn't tried it until just recently. I got the classic lasagna with a side of garlic bread, and while it was a solid take out meal, I'm not sure the lasagna itself (despite the addition of a side salad) was worth $18. It was quite good but I felt that price was a smidge steep for the quantity of food received. The garlic bread was quite good, although the addition of pepperonis did throw me for a bit of a loop. Overall quite a good meal, just some small areas that could be improved on.

If you're looking for the most delicious grilled chicken salad you've ever had, look no further. I can't quite put into words how delicious this is but let me start by saying this salad is very hearty and at a place with delicious pizza and pasta, I often only get this salad because it fills me up. The portions are large so I will warn you, I'd ask for extra dressing. Outside of the grilled chicken salad the 5 cheese white pizza is one of my favorite pizzas. Typically I think a pizza without a little protein on top is a waste but not when it comes to the 5 cheese white.

For lunch today we had pasta at Sgt. Peffer's Cafe Italian on N. Saddle Creek. It's a small place with scattered tables for two or four. During Covid times, we ordered delivery. I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as crowded as the parking lot made it seem. The ambiance is a nod to the Beatles and a play on words with the owner's name-- Sgt. Peffer's as opposed to Sgt. Pepper's. There is a lot of Beatles memorabilia in here. We also really like the food. Bookguy always orders seafood lasagna which he says is "to die for". I usually order veggie lasagna but today decided to have Quatroformaggi mostaccioli--a four cheese sauce over pasta. It was a bit bland but still tasty and a large enough portion for leftovers. Both entrees came with soup or salad and a delicious house made bread roll. We both chose salad and Bookguy liked that it had iceberg rather that a different kind of lettuce. The salad was also a generous portion. The soups are different for each day and are not what you find anywhere else. They also have pizza and sandwiches. We love the food we get here and will, of course, come back again.

Very unassuming exterior but wow! Last night I had my first experience at Sgt Peffers and it did not disappoint! We order the New Yorker (minus the anchovies because I'm a chicken) and it was everything! The toppings were so delicious and the cheese was perfection. Not to mention the amazing crust... Most definitely homemade! If you haven't put this pizza spot on your list, yet, add it! If you're visiting Omaha, and you're hungry for pizza that tastes homemade, I would highly recommend!
